Frequently asked questions

How does metadata removal work?

The image is decoded and re-encoded from scratch. A freshly encoded file contains only pixel data, so every metadata block is dropped.

Will re-encoding reduce quality?

For JPG there is one extra lossy generation - at high quality it is visually undetectable. PNG and WebP keep full fidelity.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser; your images never leave your device.
