Instagram Image Size Guide 2026: Every Format, Every Dimension

Instagram reshapes whatever you upload, and sloppy sources get cropped unpredictably. Uploading at the right size keeps you in control.

Feed posts

• Square: 1080×1080 px (1:1)
• Portrait: 1080×1350 px (4:5) - takes the most screen space in the feed
• Landscape: 1080×566 px (1.91:1)

Stories and Reels

• Stories / Reels full screen: 1080×1920 px (9:16)
• Reels cover: 1080×1920, but keep the important content in the central 1080×1350 area - the UI crops top and bottom in the profile grid.

Profile photo

Displayed at 110×110 px on phones, but upload 320×320 or larger for sharpness.

Practical tips

Export as JPG at quality 80+ or WebP where accepted. Instagram compresses everything again, so starting clean matters: an already-compressed source degrades visibly. Use a resizer with a Cover-crop mode to fill each format exactly without manual cropping.
